A man has been charged in a tree-trimming fraud case in Loudoun County, authorities said.
John R. Kennedy Jr., 36, of Midland, was apprehended Thursday evening in Fauquier County and was charged with obtaining money by false pretenses, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. He was being held without bond Tuesday.
Last month, Kennedy claimed he was with a company called Action Tree Service and offered tree trimming services to a Sterling resident, according to the sheriff’s office. Although Kennedy and the resident signed a contract and Kennedy collected a deposit from the resident, he never completed any work, the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities believe that there may be other victims. Anyone who paid Kennedy without receiving services can call a Loudoun County financial crimes detective at 703-777-0475.
