Teen trio goes missing

Leesburg detectives are in a desperate search for three teenage girls who may have run away from home together.

The trio — Nathaly Flores, 14, Allison Marroquin, 13, and Jocelyn Perdomo, also 14 — were dropped off at Smart’s Mill Middle School last Wednesday morning but never made it to class. Officials are worried that the three have gone on the run together, WTOP radio reported.

Va. man gets 3 years in prison for making machine guns

A 50-year-old Alexandria man was sentenced to three years in prison for converting a semiautomatic rifle into a machine gun without obtaining the proper licenses.

John M. Walker was also ordered to forfeit 19 other guns that had illegally been converted to machine guns and found in his home.

Man injured when car struck by train

A man was seriously injured early Sunday after his car was struck by a massive freight train.

The man, who remained unidentified Sunday afternoon, leapt from his car but was injured after the car careened from its collision with a 70-car CSX train near Route 1 in Beltsville. He was rushed to a hospital.

Authorities were trying to figure how the man’s car got onto the tracks. The tracks run parallel to the road and do not intersect.

D.C. taxi driver shot in the face A cabbie is recovering from a gunshot wound to the face after a robbery in Northwest. Police found the cabbie, whose name was withheld, near the intersection of 17th and T streets NW late Saturday night. It’s the latest incident in a steady stream of violence against District cab drivers. Police said late last month they believed a ring of thieves was targeting taxis and linked at least four robberies to a single band of men.
