Barricade follows fatal shooting

A man who barricaded himself inside a residence after a deadly shooting in Southeast Washington early Wednesday has been arrested, D.C. police said.

The victim, identified by police as J’Ron Brown, was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest on the 1700 block of 17th Street SE about 2 a.m. Wednesday. Brown, whose age was not available Wednesday afternoon, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

A suspect hid in a residence near the site of the shooting. He was taken into custody at 10 a.m.

Police have not released the man’s identity. Charges are pending.

Man convicted in double-murder

A 27-year-old D.C. man was convicted by a jury Wednesday of felony murder while armed and other charges in the June 2010 slayings of a father and a son at a wholesale store in Northeast Washington.

Christian Taylor faces a maximum sentence of life in prison with no possibility of release for the deaths of Ming-Kun Chih, 59, and his son, Li-Jen Chih, 32.

A camera showed Taylor pointing a handgun at Li-Jen Chih, who was working behind the counter, and ordered him to put money into a bag. As the robbery continued, Taylor shot Li-Jen Chih as well as his father.
