WATCH: Youngkin throws ax bull’s-eye

In the latest sign that more Virginia Democratic House seats are in trouble, Gov. Glenn Youngkin is heading to Loudoun County to pitch in for Republican Hung Cao, who is challenging first-term Rep. Jennifer Wexton.

Or, rather, throw in.

He’s set to toss axes at a Monday event for Cao at Purcellville’s newest pub, the Elysium Axe Bar.

To highlight the stop, the Suburban Virginia Republican Coalition posted a video of Youngkin hitting a bull’s-eye at another ax-throwing facility in 2021 when he ran for governor and beat former Gov. Terry McAuliffe in a shocker that Cao is hoping to copy.

“Candidate ⁦@GlennYoungkin last year hit the bull’s-eye on his first try! Can he do it again?” said the group in a tweet.

Youngkin has been making his way through Virginia to help GOP candidates, especially in the three targeted by National Republicans. Virginia’s 10th, held by Wexton, just recently came on as a long-shot pickup and the governor was to campaign with Cao in neighboring Fauquier County Thursday.

Cao told us, “Last year, Virginians sent a resounding message that they do not support higher taxes, political ideology in the classroom, and soft-on-crime policies. Democrats did not get the message. Just as Gov. Youngkin has been delivering on his promise in Richmond, I’ll deliver on mine in Washington to empower parents, provide economic opportunity for all, and prioritize the safety and security of our nation. It’s time for Americans to unite together.”

The University of Virginia’s Larry Sabato Crystal Ball team included the 10th in a new projection, suggesting that if Cao wins, election night will be a GOP blowout.

Kyle Kondik, the editor of the Crystal Ball, said, “The 3 races in VA are good ones. If Rs flip VA-10 (Likely D), megawave; if Rs flip VA-7 (Leans D), strong night; if VA-2 (Toss-up) doesn’t flip, Ds are likely doing much better than expected.”
