Speaker Ryan delivers another $2.5 million to NRCC, $38 million total

House Speaker Paul Ryan this year has continued his fundraising tear and on Tuesday is transferring $2.5 million to the National Republican Congressional Committee in his bid to keep the GOP in charge of the House.

Since the 2016 elections, the speaker’s campaign operation, Team Ryan, has given the NRCC $38 million for the organization’s 2018 midterm election effort.

In just 2017, he raised a jaw-dropping $44 million for his campaign and GOP election groups, transferring $32 million of that to the NRCC.

And no surprise, that is a record for a House speaker.

What’s more, he raised that money only during the week. The Wisconsin lawmaker and father still keeps his weekends open for his family.

“Speaker Ryan’s leadership has put House Republicans in a strong position to have a successful 2018. Support for the House’s conservative agenda remains strong and the speaker’s nonstop efforts to boost the conference ensures that Republicans will have the resources they need to promote a positive message this fall,” said Team Ryan Executive Director Kevin Seifert.

Despite predictions that Democrats are on the verge of taking control of the House, Ryan and his campaign teams and advisors remain confident of maintaining the majority, in part because he and top Republicans have been laser focused on fundraising. He has also recommended House members to talk up the recently approved tax cut package that is already putting more money in paychecks and to address local issues that House Republicans have worked on.

He is also planning to shift soon to doing more campaign events for members, but in the meantime is hoping that his example will spark all House members to jump start their fundraising and campaigning.

Vice President Mike Pence has already started fundraising and campaigning for House members. He plans to help 30 members and this week is stopping in several states for events.

President Trump has also committed to helping.
