Buzz: Bobblehead enshrines MLK, Richard Grenell hits Hollywood gay people, Ukraine disaster numbers

Our friends at the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled a model of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. just in time for the civil rights leader’s holiday.

The $40 bobblehead has King standing at the podium delivering his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech and includes audio clips of the famous speech, said the Milwaukee-based hall.

“We are proud to release the first talking bobblehead of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as we commemorate his life and legacy on MLK Day,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “Dr. King is one of the most frequently requested when it comes to bobbleheads, and we’re thrilled to team up with his estate to provide people with the opportunity to honor and celebrate his life with this bobblehead.”

  • Former Ambassador to Germany and acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell has called out Glee writer Ryan Murphy for claiming it’s difficult being gay in America. Grenell, who’s faced discrimination for being a gay Republican, tweeted after Murphy won a Golden Globe last week, “I’m so tired of West Hollywood and Chelsea gays acting like they are oppressed. They are too self-absorbed to see how great they have it. The U.S. is the greatest country in the history of the world for gays. Gays in Iran get pushed off buildings, Ryan. Do something.”

  • Thanks to a summary presented in Vienna by regional Ambassador Michael Carpenter, we are learning just how badly Ukraine has been affected by Russia’s war. Carpenter said that in 2022, air-raid sirens in Ukraine sounded 14,870 times, bombs hit 3,126 schools, destroying 337 of them, 5.9 million Ukrainians are displaced inside the country, and another 7.9 million are refugees sheltered in 40 countries, and over 90% of those are women and children.
