Nobody beats Matt Drudge’s popular Drudge Report when it comes to driving people to the world’s most influential news sites.
A new infographic to promote the Drudge Report to advertisers uses statistics to show that no other website refers more traffic than Drudge to CNN, Fox, Washington Post, New York Times, AP, Politico and even the Daily Mail.
“Drudge has a profound effect on America’s premier news outlets: it’s the top source for referral traffic to industry powerhouses like Fox News, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, the Associated Press, and Reuters among others. That alone is extraordinary,” said the report.
A blog post from Intermarkets about their client, added, “Conclusion: Drudge is a rare, unique premium publisher driving hundreds of millions of external visits each month.”
What’s more, virtually all of his traffic comes directly to his Drudge Report: his site receives two million unique daily visits and 700 million monthly visits.
Consider: About 87 percent of Drudge’s traffic is direct to his site, and not through another website. But just 40 percent of the major media’s traffic is direct, meaning the rest is from referral sites like Drudge.
“It is usually the first thing people see in the morning,” said an official with Drudge’s advertising firm, Intermarkets, which worked with the data company SimilarWeb to develop the infographic below.
