Biden documents ‘inadvertently misplaced,’ pledges special counsel cooperation

President Joe Biden and his lawyers have vowed to cooperate with special counsel Robert Hur, who has been tapped by Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate classified documents from Biden’s vice presidency that were found to be in his possession.

“We have cooperated closely with the Justice Department throughout its review, and we will continue that cooperation with the Special Counsel,” Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president, wrote in a statement Thursday. “We are confident that a thorough review will show that these documents were inadvertently misplaced, and the President and his lawyers acted promptly upon discovery of this mistake.”

PETE BUTTIGIEG’S TOUGH MONTH

Sauber repeated that Biden “takes classified information and materials seriously.”

Earlier Thursday, the White House confirmed a second batch of documents was found at Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, last month after the first was located at the Washington, D.C., office of his think tank on Nov. 2, days before the 2022 midterm elections. One more record was found in Wilmington this week.

“My lawyer has reviewed other places where documents from my time as vice president were stored, and they finished the review last night,” Biden told reporters Thursday. “They discovered a small number of documents of classified marketing and storage areas and file cabinets in my home in my personal library.”

“The Department of Justice was immediately notified, and the lawyers arranged for the Department of Justice to take possession of the document,” he added. “So you’re gonna see — we’re gonna see all this unfold.”
