The Family Research Council just joined a crowded field attacking Conor Lamb, the Democratic nominee in the special election for Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District, and that social conservative giant’s super PAC does not pull punches.
In a new 30-second digital ad, viewed by the Washington Examiner, the Family Research Council Action’s super PAC, Faith Family Freedom Fund, condemns Lamb for his opposition to a 20-week abortion ban and compares his abortion stance to that of North Korea.
“America is one of only seven countries that allows abortion for any reason after five months when science shows unborn babies can feel pain,” says the narrator of the ad as images of a baby in-utero give way to marching soldiers and a scowling Kim Jong Un. “North Korea and China do too. So does Conor Lamb.”
Extreme but not inaccurate, the clip highlights an uncomfortable fact: though running as a conservative Democrat, Lamb has embraced a position that many Pennsylvania voters find radical. When asked by the Weekly Standard whether he would support a ban on abortions after five months, Lamb admitted he would “have voted against it.”
That grates with the moderate and Catholic image that Lamb has tried to cultivate throughout the campaign. The Family Research Council wants that to be forefront in the minds of voters and will push the ad through the March 13th election.
