President Trump will reportedly use his joint address to Congress Tuesday evening to address the recent spike in anti-Semitic attacks.
Shortly after a source revealed this to the press Tuesday afternoon, CNN ran an entirely regrettable chryon (on-air headline) that read, “Source: Trump to address Jewish threats tonight.”
No, no, no.
Trump is set to address attacks on Jewish people. He’s not going to address Jewish threats because that doesn’t sound twisted or anything. Good grief, fellas. This is media. We work with words all day. That’s our medium. Surely, someone could’ve phrased that chyron better.
CNN could’ve gone with “Source: Trump to address attacks on Jewish centers,” or “Trump to address anti-Semitic threats,” or pretty much anything else.
Come on, guys. Get your act together.
