A week ago, before the filing deadline for third-quarter campaign fundraising reports, Marco Rubio’s campaign let it be known that he had raised $6 million in the July-August-September period.

“Aides to Mr. Rubio announced at a donor retreat in Las Vegas that he had raised $6 million in the quarter, according to a person present,” reported the Wall Street Journal on Oct. 8. “Marco Rubio’s campaign raised $6 million in the third quarter, according to donors briefed on his finances,” reported Politico the same day. “Sen. Marco Rubio revealed … that his campaign raised $6 million in the third quarter,” reported the Washington Examiner.
