The View co-host wants criminal charges against DeSantis for unvaccinated COVID-19 deaths

The View co-host Joy Behar believes Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who opposes school mask mandates, should be held criminally liable for COVID-19 deaths that happen on his watch.

Curiously, she never embraced a similar standard for disgraced former Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, whose order forcing infectious coronavirus patients into long-term care facilities really might have negligently killed up to 11,000 New Yorkers. Behar’s COVID-19 concern is reserved exclusively for DeSantis, the weird target of so much left-wing rage and, not coincidentally, a leading unofficial contender for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

“Florida is on fire right now with COVID cases,” declared co-host Whoopi Goldberg. “Thirteen school employees have died in this just past three weeks in Miami-Dade County alone.”

Interjected Behar, “[DeSantis] is putting his political ambitions ahead of the safety of children. It’s as simple as that, really.”

The audience clapped.

“The way I see it,” Behar continued, “he should be criminally liable for that. You are actually committing negligent homicide when people die on your watch.”

Never mind Behar’s double standard — both for Andrew Cuomo and for President Joe Biden, whose disastrous mismanagement of the Afghanistan withdrawal led to the untimely death of 13 U.S. service members and hundreds of Afghans. The problem is simply that Behar is a partisan stooge.

In her mind and in the minds of those like her, when unvaccinated Republicans die, it is their own fault. But when 13 unvaccinated school employees die, it is Ron DeSantis’s fault. How does that work? (By the way, DeSantis has been aggressively promoting vaccinations this year, and Florida has a relatively high vaccination rate.)

In related news, Florida hospitalizations are down by nearly 40%, according to Florida data analyst Kyle Lamb, with the trailing seven-day case average “down under 14,300. It was ~21,700 just 2 weeks ago.”

If there is a more vapid daytime show than The View, or more dimwitted people to host it, I’d be interested in seeing such a thing.
