On Sunday, comedian Michelle Wolf dedicated a significant portion of her Netflix show, “The Break,” about why abortion should remain legal, even throwing a mini-parade saluting the procedure.
Abortion has been in the spotlight ever since Justice Anthony Kennedy announced he would be retiring from the Supreme Court at the end of July.
Wolf pointed out the irony of President Trump overseeing a Supreme Court that could possibly overturn the landmark 1973 ruling that essentially legalized abortion nationwide, joking on her show, “That dude has been responsible for more abortions than the invention of back alley.”
She went a step further to say that the original draft of joke was more grotesque, saying, “We were originally gonna use coat hanger. And before that,” as she guffawed at her own joke, “stairs.”
Apart from the bad science and self-righteous, yet boring partisan lecture, Wolf’s jokes about abortion hint uncomfortably towards the gory details about the procedure that would push many people to the pro-life side of the debate.
