NBC News actively promoted an odd finding from their August poll purporting to show that of all backgrounds, blacks were the most vaccinated population, with 76% of black respondents claiming they were already vaccinated. According to the same NBC poll, just 66% of whites were vaccinated compared to 72% of Hispanics.
As Beckett Adams previously noted, this NBC News finding contradicted almost all previous polling on the question, including the Kaiser Family Foundation’s running tally of Census data showing that 52% of whites are vaccinated compared to 48% of Hispanics and only 43% of blacks.
According to the latest CNN poll, released last week, it appears that at least when it comes to race, Kaiser is closer to the truth. CNN found that 75% of Hispanics said they were vaccinated compared to 73% of whites and 68% of blacks.
The CNN poll also found those making under $50,000 a year were the most likely income bracket not to be vaccinated and that the 18-44 age group was the most likely age group not to be vaccinated. These are both generally Democratic demographics.
The politics of vaccine mandates may end up being more complicated than the White House had planned.
