Will a Bloomberg-Clinton ticket actually happen?

If Michael Bloomberg doesn’t want to tank his chances at the presidency, he better squash these rumors immediately.

Bloomberg is considering none other than Hillary Clinton as a running mate, according to a Drudge Report exclusive from Saturday.

And Bloomberg hasn’t denied it. As the Washington Examiner previously reported, “Team Bloomberg did not deny the story. A spokeswoman for Bloomberg declined to comment on the report when the Washington Examiner reached out.”

When Ellen Degeneres asked Clinton earlier this month whether she’d end up running as a vice president in 2020, Clinton responded, “Well, that’s not going to happen. But no, probably no.” Probably. But never underestimate Clinton’s aspirations to become the comeback kid.

According to the report, Bloomberg would truly commit to the ticket: “DRUDGE has learned that Bloomberg himself would go as far as to change his official residence from New York to homes he owns in Colorado or Florida, since the electoral college makes it hard for a POTUS and VPOTUS from the same state.”

But if Bloomberg doesn’t want Clinton destroying his campaign as quickly as her emails, then he better shut this rumor down. A Bloomberg-Clinton ticket would be the surest way to tank his presidential campaign.

Former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg was recently polling at 11%, surprisingly strong for someone who announced his candidacy as late as last November. But Bloomberg’s authoritarian streak, as well as his controversial stop-and-frisk policies, won’t help him with some voters.

But, considering they’re both masters of the political flip-flop, at least it would be an appropriate match.

Perhaps the worst thing that could happen to Bloomberg, further strengthening his image as an egocentric autocrat, would be a tie to Clinton. Americans voted for Donald Trump to keep Clinton out of office. What makes Bloomberg think they won’t do it again?
