In the spin room tonight, Rick Perry supporters wanted to focus on his record on jobs, adding the candidate was fending off attacks from all sides.

Kansas governor Sam Brownback, said that Perry did much better than the previous two debates, and added, “He’s a guy who’s getting punched around, the new guy in, now he’s punching back, he’s on his feet, on a learning curve.”

Florida Representative Matt Gaetz echoed the sentiment. “All the arrows get pointed in his direction,” said Gaetz, “He punched his way out of the box and he did a good job tonight.”

When asked about how Perry’s debate performance contrasted with Romney’s polish, Gaetz would only say, “Mitt Romney has been running for president for about 8 years now.”

“I’m not here to criticize his delivery, I’m here to talk about his record.” said Florida Majority Leader Carlos Lopez-Cantera, noting that if voters wanted a “smooth eloquent speaking” president, they would vote for Obama.
