Energized by a crowd of supporters, Newt Gingrich vowed to continue his campaign in spite of his fourth place finish in Iowa.

During his speech, Gingrich marveled at his ability to survive the negative attacks brought against him.

“I would not have survived in this campaign against millions and millions of dollars of negative advertising if it weren’t for thousands of volunteers who showed up and helped us in every town and cared.” Gingrich said, calling the barrage against him, “the biggest onslaught in the history of the Iowa primary.”

Gingrich said that the GOP presidential contest was a choice between a “Reagan conservative” like himself or a “Massachusetts moderate” like Mitt Romney.

“We’re not going to go run nasty ads. Gingrich said, wowing to run ads against Romney, “But… I do reserve the right to tell the truth and if it seems negative that may be more a comment on his record.”
