With global markets crashing around him, President Obama appears to be in full panic mode. Obama was scheduled to announce new fuel efficiency standards for work trucks, buses, and other heavy duty vehicles at Interstate Moving Services in Springfield, Virginia. That trip has been cancelled. Instead, he will meet privately behind closed doors at the White House with industry officials.
The White House has also cancelled spokesman Jay Carney’s daily press briefing. After the meeting fuel efficiency meeting, Obama will reportedly meet with Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner about the economy.
