Last night, Newt Gingrich spent six minutes telling a story about his failed attempt to safely cut down a massive tree in his neighbor’s yard. Gingrich explained to the audience in Georgia that tree fell and damaged the roof of his neighbor’s house.
Gingrich said that he used to start his speeches at the Kawanis Club with this story which played well to the crowd.

“A number of people who decided that they liked me because I was willing to admit i was not really smart,” Gingrich admitted, “And they could all identify, I mean everybody at some point has done something you look back at some point in my life and say that was really not very clever.”
The speech may have played well in the audience, but it left the national media scratching their heads.
Gingrich has several stories that he shares on the trail, including a story of a 6-foot transvestite’ who invited him to an exorcism of Jerry Falwell.
