Paul Ryan
House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wis. pauses during a news conference at the Republican National Committee Headquarters on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, July 18, 2017.

During a recent
interview
with CBS Mornings, former House Speaker
Paul Ryan
was asked about “anti-woke” politics in the Republican Party and responded, “I’m not a big culture war guy.” Ryan went on to cite the “unresolved policy issues” that he feels should be the focus of Republican leaders such as the debt crisis and China.

The 2012 vice presidential nominee walked back his original answer slightly by adding that he sometimes sides with “anti-woke” policies, but it is clear from his answer that Ryan
does not view
cultural matters as an appropriate use of a conservative politician’s time. This is a viewpoint best left to the dustbin of history.

BIDEN CELEBRATES AFTER WEST COAST DOCKWORKERS AND EMPLOYERS REACH LABOR DEAL

Aside from the fact that socially conservative policies are important to a large swath of the voters who repeatedly sent Ryan to Congress, it is no longer realistic to claim that the culture wars don’t matter. “Who cares who gets married” turned into biological men sharing bathrooms with young girls and men dominating
women’s sports
in a matter of a decade.

Former President Barack Obama and then-Vice President Joe Biden campaigned against gay marriage; fast forward a few years, and President Joe Biden hosted a Pride event on the White House lawn, complete with
transgender activists
parading topless and a Pride progress flag being
displayed
on the front of the White House between two American flags at equal height. (The Biden administration was
accused
of breaking the Flag Code, which is technically false; there is an American flag displayed on top of the White House as well.)

Even if that doesn’t bother you, or you believe the line from corporate journalists that drag queen story hour isn’t happening across the country targeting children,
which it is
, the Left’s cultural domination has dire economic consequences as well.
ESG
threatens entire industries, such as the energy sector, and if Ryan is that concerned with China as an economic competitor or adversary, would he not want to rid American corporations of productivity-killing, leftist initiatives such as the diversity, equity, and inclusion push?

The sexual indoctrination of children by the Left has
deadly consequences
. Children who receive “gender-affirming care” are at a highly elevated risk of suicide. “Culture war guys” such as Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) are, in fact, saving lives by
banning
puberty blockers and irreversible surgeries for minors.

The debt crisis is important, but so is the culture, especially when Democrats have
shown us
what they are capable of when left unchecked.
