The Pennsylvania Avenue entrance of the J. Edgar Hoover Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Building is seen in Washington, Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017.

Leading gun safe manufacturer Liberty Safe is in
hot water
 after providing the
FBI
the access code to the safe of a suspect allegedly tied to the
Jan. 6
Capitol riot.

Its statement reads, in part: “Liberty Safe is devoted to protecting the personal property and 2nd amendment rights of our customers and has repeatedly denied requests for access codes without a warrant in the past. We do not give out combinations without proper legal documentation being provided by authorities.”

ACT NOW TO STOP THE RETURN OF MASK MANDATES

Liberty Safe’s decision to cooperate with the authorities on their assault of the Second Amendment rights of one of Liberty Safe’s customers predictably went over like a zeppelin on social media. Competitor SecureIt Gun Storage
responded
to the controversy by reiterating its support for the rights of its customers: “It is SecureIt’s belief and protocol, that the protection of personal property, and the Second Amendment rights of American citizens are paramount. Our full line of fast access modular safes are not built with any override system, giving our customers full control.”

The first question this raises is, why on earth does a gun safe manufacturer have access to its customers’ products in the first place? Even Apple, the Silicon Valley tech giant that manufactures its products in communist China, does not have the ability to unlock its customers’ iPhones.

Secondly, after the bashing companies such as
Target
and
Bud Light
took following their ill-fated decisions to appease the regime, why would a company such as Liberty Safe, whose customer base self-evidently skews to the Right, make a similar, even more morally odious choice? Bud Light’s revenue dropped by an astounding $400 million after the
Dylan Mulvaney
controversy, and the brand fell from 1st to 15th on the list of
top-selling beers
in America. Apparently, Liberty Safe did not take these recent conservative-led boycotts seriously.

Regardless of your feelings on the Jan. 6 riot, defendants are receiving absurdly unreasonable
prison sentences
, including Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio getting hit with a 22-year sentence, despite credible evidence that the FBI itself was
complicit
in encouraging the riot. Allegedly, a dozen or more FBI agents also
entrapped
 three
now-incarcerated
men in a “plot” to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI). From the treatment of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. to the recent weaponization of the bureau by Democratic activists such as James Comey,
Peter Strzok
, and Lisa Page, the FBI is in need of massive, wide-ranging reforms. Some Republicans have called for the organization’s complete
elimination

The FBI does not respect the rights and freedoms of the public, and it routinely ignores the Constitution. There are many fine gun safe manufacturers to choose from. Let companies such as Liberty Safe that choose to serve the authorities over their customers go the way of bad beer and the dodo bird.
