Obama above 50% in just 11 states

According to six months of Gallup polling, President Obama has a better than 50 percent approval rating in just 11 states and the District of Columbia. Those 11 states and the District would give Obama 173 of the 270 Electoral College votes he would need to win re-election.

The state-by-state aprroval data released by Gallup today is a cuumaltive total of nearly 90,000 interviews stretching back to January of this year. His numbers are surely worse than these totals indicate since Obama’s approval rating was markedly better in January than it is today. On January 1st, Gallup measured Obama’s approval rating at 49 – 45 net positive. Today Obama’s rating is underwater at 42 – 50.
