GIBBS: I don’t — I don’t — I don’t have a lead in, so — and there’s no truth to the rumor that I’ve added an inflatable exit to my office…
Sam Stein, the White House reporter for Huffington Post, asked Gibbs who, exactly had called for eliminating the Pentagon, as Gibbs had said in his interview with Sam Youngman of The Hill. Gibbs said he thought it was Dennis Kucinich — or rather that the congressman from Ohio had actually called for creating a Department of Peace, adding “I don’t know.”
Asked whether his lashing out at the left was a deliberate strategy or whether he actually put his foot in it, Gibbs said it was neither.
“I think I have both my feet firmly planted on the floor and nothing in my mouth to speak of,” Gibbs said.
And then he terrifyingly demonstrated by opening his mouth like a frog catching flies. We are trying to find a photo.
