Romney pulls ad after CNN complains

Sarah B. Boxer reports that Mitt Romney pulled their latest Perry ad featuring his unflattering debate performance on CNN.

After CNN complained that the network “did not consent to the use of its copyrighted material,” for the ad, the Romney camp complied.

“While the use of the CNN clips was fully within our rights under the law, we respect and appreciate the role CNN has played as host in debates over the last several months. For this reason, we are honoring their request to remove the video.” said Romney spokesman Andrea Saul.

Pulling a campaign ad isn’t as damaging as it seems. Once the video is pulled, inquiring minds will want to know why it was pulled and gives it a second run at the news cycle. Inevitably, a copy is posted elsewhere on YouTube.

Perry also used CNN debate footage in an ad that went out earlier this morning attacking Mitt Romney.

If CNN asks the Perry campaign to take down their video, will they comply? You can bet that the Romney campaign is watching.
