BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — After being cited by federal environmental officials, the city of Buffalo has a new plan for disposing of fluorescent bulbs and other potentially hazardous waste.
The Environmental Protection Agency says it issued several violations after inspections revealed the city was improperly storing things like paint thinner, used bulbs and lead-containing cathode ray tubes.

Under a settlement announced this week, Buffalo will improve its handling of hazardous waste and hold nine community recycling events to collect household hazardous waste.
The city also will pay a $21,000 penalty.
