“ABC World News” anchor Diane Sawyer reported live from Afghanistan on Sunday night, and will broadcast from Kabul on Monday for a special report and interviews with top generals, including the first-ever joint interview with outgoing Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Gen. David Petraeus, commander of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. Sawyer has not reported from the Middle East since last year. On this visit, which is her sixth, she will accompany Gates for his final stop in the region as he says goodbye and thanks our brave young men and women for their service to our country.
CIA Director Leon Panetta will replace Gates as secretary of defense when Gates retires at the end of this month.
