We know Mike Isabella can cook, but can he throw? “I’m just as good on the mound as I am in the kitchen,” the “Top Chef All-Stars” runner-up told Yeas & Nays on Tuesday afternoon. He’s going to get his chance to prove it when the fun-loving chef behind the newly opened Graffiato takes to the mound to throw out the first pitch for the first game of the Washington Nationals’ double-header against the Pittsburg Pirates on Saturday.
Isabella, who told us about how played baseball as a kid (mostly right field) but was never any good, still seems pretty confident he’ll cast a curve ball even under the pressure of a packed stadium.

“Honestly, I’m not that nervous. I’ve been thrown into more stressful situations. I’m just honored to be invited and excited to get out there and throw the first pitch,” he said.
He is also looking forward to watching his favorite player in action: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth.
You can watch Isabella make a go for it on the mound this Saturday at 3:30 pm.
