Rep. Terry Lee received a new endorsement Wednesday, but it’s probably not one he particularly desires.
The vulnerable Nebraska Republican was endorsed by convicted murderer Nikko Jenkins, according to KMTV in Omaha, Neb.
“Vote Lee Terry guys, greatest Republican ever,” Jenkins shouted at a hearing to examine his competency to stand trial.
“Vote for Lee Terry. He’s a great guy,” he added.
The case of Jenkins, who killed four people in 2013 soon after being released from jail early under the “good time law,” has been used by the National Republican Campaign Committee in an ad against the Democratic nominee, State Sen. Brad Ashford.

“Brad Ashford supported the good time law and still defends it, allowing criminals like Nikko Jenkins to be released early,” the ad said.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee called the ad the “most notorious campaign ad in decades,” which has been followed by barbs back and forth between Terry and Ashford.
A RealClearPolitics average of polls lists the seat — which has been held by Terry since 1998 — as a tossup.
