President Obama is an anomaly in a town that runs on coffee. Apparently, he gets his caffeine fix from tea instead.
The commander in chief, who enjoys the perks of a fully stocked White House kitchen, has no use for the coffee beans shipped to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., according to a report in the Boston Globe.
“Very honestly, I do not recall him drinking coffee ever,” Arun Chaudhary, Obama’s former videographer, told the newspaper.
“Obama’s not really a coffee drinker,” Jon Favreau, the president’s former speechwriter, added. “I’ve seen him order tea quite a few times but never coffee.”
And the president was recently spotted leaving a nearby Starbucks with tea, not coffee.
Other presidents have been bigger on coffee. Former President Thomas Jefferson brought in beans from the East and West Indies. Teddy Roosevelt’s son compared the size of the former president’s coffee mug to that of a bathtub.
Michelle Obama, meanwhile, prefers water.
