Virginia high school students rode a bus for two days that had a CIA explosives training device on board before officials discovered the item.
The Central Intelligence Agency admitted Thursday that its employees forgot to remove the device from a bus after a K-9 training exercise at Briar Woods High School in Ashburn last week.
About 26 Loudoun County students rode the bus on Monday and Tuesday before the device was discovered during routine maintenance.
“CIA and Loudoun County explosives experts have confirmed that the training material did not pose a danger to passengers on the bus,” the agency said.
Although the small, black item did not contain a detonator or pose a security risk to students, some parents have criticized the CIA for the incident.
