First lady Michelle Obama’s new book about her White House garden will be appropriately called “American Grown: How the White House Kitchen Garden Inspires Families, Schools and Communities.” Crown Publishers released the title of the book on Monday, which is expected to hit bookstores across the country April 2012. “American Grown is the perfect title for a book in which the First Lady will celebrate the benefits of American community, school, and urban gardens and of healthy, nutritious food for our nation’s families and communities,” said president of the Crown Publishing Group Maya Mavjee. This is Michelle Obama’s first book and will focus on her message of the importance of eating healthy foods, include healthy recipes and advice on how to start a garden. Proceeds from book sales will go to a charity which has yet to be selected.
