North Korea releases detained American

North Korea has released an imprisoned American.

Jeffrey E. Fowle is on his way home after six months of captivity, a State Department official said Tuesday.

Fowle, a husband and father of three from Ohio, was visiting North Korea on a tourist visa before being detained in mid-May for leaving a bible in his hotel room, according to the New York Times.

United States officials are still trying to negotiate the release of two other American prisoners, Matthew Todd Miller and Kenneth Bae, according to State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf.
