While his food was a big draw, the candidate couldn’t quite cut it. Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty dropped out of the presidential race Sunday after a third-place showing in Saturday’s GOP straw poll in Ames, Iowa. Ironically, his food was the biggest hit with those who attended the event.
A Yeas & Nays spy noted the long lines to get Pawlenty’s yummy treats. “Tim Pawlenty’s tent was by far the most visited for food as Famous Dave’s barbecue and Dairy Queen Blizzards were on the menu,” a source said. But that didn’t help the GOP presidential hopeful surge ahead during Saturday’s Iowa straw poll as he came in third behind Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., and Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas.

Bachmann won over the attendees with her entertainment. She hosted country music star Randy Travis and the bands Little Texas and Lonestar. Paul set up his tent next to where attendees voted.
