A Florida prosecutor will not prosecute Donald Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowksi for his alleged battery of a former Breitbart reporter during a press event in the Sunshine State last month, according to a new report.
The decision is expected to be announced Thursday afternoon by Palm Beach County State Attorney David Aronberg.
Ex-Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly Wednesday night she will go after Lewandowski in a civil case for defamation.
Fields claimed in a police report last month the manager assaulted her following Trump’s press conference at his golf course in Jupiter, Fla.
The Manhattan billionaire’s campaign team released video of the incident after the attack. In later interviews, Trump threatened to sue Fields for attempting to get to close to him, which Aronberg said factored into his consideration on whether to prosecute Lewandowski.
The campaign manager has remained behind the scenes in the weeks since the incident while Trump has continued to defend his employee, saying he would not throw a good man out on the streets.
Trump also brought on Paul Manafort to oversee convention operations and ensure the camp receives enough delegate support to secure the nomination.
