Ky. rally protesters sue Trump for alleged assaults

Three individuals who attended a Donald Trump rally March 1 have submitted a lawsuit against the GOP front-runner for alleged assaults they endured at the event.

A Kentucky news outlet reported late Thursday that protesters Kashiya Nwanguma, Molly Shah and Henry Brousseau have filed paperwork suing the New York businessman, a white supremacist and a Korean War veteran for attacks sustained at the Kentucky International Convention Center.

Nwanguma, a student at the University of Louisville, claimed attendees shoved and struck her. Shah alleged others rushed at the group and punched Brousseau after Trump ordered security officials to “get them out of here.”

“Peaceful protest is an American tradition, especially in the context of presidential politics,” Dan Canon, one of the plaintiffs’ attorneys, told WDRB. “But what you see all over the country, time and time again, is violence employed against protestors at Trump campaign events. These plaintiffs are saying ‘enough is a enough.'”

Trump is accused of inciting a riot against the individuals because he “selectively targeted the protestors for physical violence because of the content of their speech,” the lawsuit states.

The plaintiffs have asked for an unspecified amount of compensation for physical injuries and emotional distress.

The plaintiffs have also filed criminal complaints with the Louisville Police Department.
