Mere hours before Sen. Joseph Biden and Gov. Sarah Palin took the stage in St. Louis for the campaign’s one and only debate, Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne hosted 100 staffers at their Massachusetts Avenue home for a barbecue.
One topic that almost never came up? The debate. “Almost everyone was mute on the subject,” said one attendee.
There were two highlights of the evening: Music by the U.S. Navy Band’s Sea Chanters and a flaming baton performance by the Wheaton Majorettes.
