McCain as Judi Dench
Should we start calling Barack Obama “Double-oh-Nine” in honor of the year he might be inaugurated? Indeed, on top of every other pop-culture accolade bestowed on Obama, Daniel Craig now tells Parade magazine in this weekend’s issue that he’d make the better James Bond.
“Obama would be the better Bond because — if he’s true to his word — he’d be willing to quite literally look the enemy in the eye and go toe-to-toe with them,” says Craig, whose second turn as 007 opens next month.
And as for Obama’s opponent? “[John] McCain, because of his long service and experience, would probably be a better M,” adds Craig in a sly reference to Bond’s boss, played by Dame Judi Dench. “There is, come to think of it, a kind of Judi Dench quality to McCain.”
Ouch.
