The media world’s been a-buzz with word of Katie Couric leaving CBS Evening News for a daytime spot on ABC, but sources tell CNN it’s not a done deal yet.
“People at ABC believe that CBS has a very real chance of retaining her. People negotiating for ABC believe they are underdogs,” a source told Politico on Friday.
Couric announced she’d be leaving CBS in April, and since then there has been speculation about her future, which could include a $20 million dollar deal for a syndicated daytime show on ABC that might even sweep General Hospital off its time-slot. But sources say there will be no grand pronouncements until until her current contract ends in June.
