Donald Trump hit Ted Cruz Sunday with a new criticism, labeling the rival he has previously called nice as “nasty.”
“The truth is he’s a nasty guy,” Trump told George Stephanopoulos on “This Week” Sunday.
“He was so nice to me,” Trump said. “But he’s a nasty guy. Nobody likes him. Nobody in Congress likes him anywhere once they get to know him.”
“He’s got an edge that’s not good. You can’t make deals with people like that, and it’s not a good thing,” Trump said.
Trump slightly trails Cruz in Iowa, but Trump leads Cruz in New Hampshire and nationally.
The two, who once avoiding attacking each other and even held a joint rally, have exchanged increasingly harsh criticism lately as they compete in Iowa.
Cruz alleges Trump has “New York values” on social issues. Trump has raised concerns over Cruz’s Canadian birth.
