Following in the footsteps of famous New York eateries Carmine’s and Shake Shack, another Big Apple favorite, Serendipity, has finally opened in D.C. “We had the opportunity of getting this building which I think is the most perfect corner in the city because it’s right in the epicenter of Georgetown and the concept just came to us in a serendipitous way,” co-principal Rodrigo Garcia told Yeas & Nays. The restaurant, located at the intersection of M Street and Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown, features many of the New York eatery’s staples including the Frrrozen hot chocolate, foot-long hot dogs and $1,000 Golden Opulence Sundae. The menu also offers a few items made especially for D.C., including pan-seared Virginia striped bass, White House pizza and Monumental hangover omelette.
“We have over 70 savory items and about 25-plus dessert items so we are more on the savory than we are on the sweet,” says Garcia. For those with a sweet tooth, there are two treats exclusive to D.C. that Garcia says will make your mouth water: the cherry cobbler a la mode and the Serendipity D.C. Treasure Chest.

Garcia and business partner Britt Swann hope to see some famous clientele at their establishment, much like the New York locations.
“I’d love to have the president and his daughters eat here,” Garcia told us. “And we have the presidential lobster pasta which would be perfect to serve to the president.”
