Colorado man arrested for making threats against cops on YouTube

A Colorado man is behind bars after allegedly posting threats against police, which law enforcement officials were made aware of by Google.

The Internet firm pointed the FBI toward Jeremiah Perez after the 33-year-old Air Force Veteran from Colorado Springs made threatening comments on a YouTube page under the alias “Vets Hunting Cops.”

One comment, repeated often, said, “WE, VETERANS WILL KILL RETIRED HELPLESS COPS.”

Perez admitted to being behind the posts, though reports say he claimed he only intended to start a conversation.

Police didn’t think so.

Perez had been under investigation since Dec. 17 and was charged sending a threat through interstate and foreign commerce. He could face up to five years in prison if convicted.

The news comes as tensions are running high for law enforcement. Two NYPD officers were killed in their patrol car last weekend by a Georgia man with a criminal history as a reprisal for the police killings of unarmed black men in Missouri and New York City.
