Sure, Halloween just passed, but that doesn’t mean Christmas isn’t just around the corner, right? The U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree is getting ready to make its 20-day cross-country tour from Stanislaus National Forest in Central California, just north of Yosemite National Park, to D.C. The 65-foot tree will be cut down Saturday morning after being blessed by a tribal elder from the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians, then transported on a truck decked out with Christmas designs and equipped with a GPS unit so folks can track the “People’s Tree” on its journey to the Capitol. The tree is expected to arrive in Washington on Nov. 28 and will be lit on Dec. 6.
