Italians say ‘Salud!’ to Berlusconi

Dinner Time

Among those joining President Bush for Monday night’s official dinner in honor of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi were – surprise! – a cadre of prominent Italian Americans: Justices Antonin Scalia and Samuel Alito, race car driver Mario Andretti, Sens. John Barrasso and Mike Enzi of Wyoming, Georgetown President John DeGioia, Rudy Giuliani, Café Milano owner Franco Nuschese, Olympic gymnast Alicia Sacramone, GOP lobbyist Susan Molinari and, of course, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The group dined on delicata squash soup with citron, Maine lobster fondue with artichoke ravioli, rosemary-crusted Elysian Farm lamb with crispy eggplant and Swiss chard, and chocolate Napoleon for dessert.

We wonder how many of the same guests we’ll see this weekend at the annual National Italian American Federation gala.
