Ohio’s John Kasich is favored to win a second term as governor, but recent comments show he may have his eyes on a run for the White House.
“I think we have as good a record as anybody in America,” Kasich told the editorial board of The Columbus Dispatch.
He also told a gathering of College Republicans at Ohio State University that he’d like to have a “clarion call” to make a run for the presidency.
After listing off his accomplishments as Ohio’s Republican governor, Kasich said ex-speaker Newt Gingrich encouraged him to write a book about them.
A RealClearPolitics average of polls has Kasich winning over Democrat Ed FitzGerald by more than nine points.
