Clinton PAC plans attacks against Trump

An outside group supporting Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid is reportedly gearing up for an early assault against Republican front-runner Donald Trump.

Priorities USA Action, the main super PAC backing Clinton, has been testing ways to attack the billionaire, its chief strategist Guy Cecil said in an interview with Politico.

According to Cecil, the group has paid close attention to anti-Trump ads developed by conservative groups – like Club for Growth and Our Principles PAC – and how effective they’ve been at damaging Trump’s candidacy. Priorities USA Action reportedly plans to go after Trump’s temperament and history of failed business ventures in their forthcoming ads.

“We learned that you can’t wait until the last minute to go after Trump,” Cecil said.

The group also plans to spend far more than the $15 million that anti-Trump PACs spent on attack ads in the weeks leading up to Florida’s Republican primary.

“What they spent is a drop in the bucket compared to what we’re going to spend, number one,” he said. “Number two, we’re going to spend it earlier.”

He added, “We anticipate going up before the convention, but I don’t have a date certain. Whether it’s August 1, July 1, June 1, May 1, our job is to be ready.”
