In this town, people love their politicians, and most residents have special affection and adoration for their mayors — well, the former ones at least. That’s why it’s no surprise that despite his oversize ego, former Mayor Adrian Fenty remains well-liked by many in the District. At Sunday’s Legg Mason players party at the P.O.V rooftop terrace at the W Hotel, several VIPs and tennis fanatics fawned over Fenty and addressed him as “mayor.” (Current Mayor Vincent Gray was invited too but did not attend.)
Being the schmoozer that he is, the athletic and attractive former city leader ate up the attention and mingled with more than 20 tennis players, including Tommy Haas, David Nalbandian, Marcos Baghdatis, Grigor Dimitrov, Kevin Anderson, Jurgen Melzer and Max Mirnyi. He even posed for pictures with James Blake.
