Obama’s wild night in Boulder

President Obama surprised patrons of The Sink during an unannounced stop at the Boulder, Col. dive bar and restaurant on Tuesday. The visit quickly devolved into strangeness when a group of students left their PBRs to pose for a picture with the president, only to realize no one had a camera. “Who’s got a camera though?” Obama asked, laughing. “Somebody’s got to take it.”

Obama worked the room, which was decorated with a drawing of a nude woman posing for a nude painter. One man handed the president a business card and told him that he builds things. Obama wished him luck. One 19-year-old business major described to him her idea for a cheese fries restaurant, which would offer fries with different cheeses and toppings. He told her he’d be on the lookout for it.

Throughout his 20-minute visit, patrons shouted things at the president, including, “Obama 2012!” One student yelled to him that she’s studying journalism.

Obama was greeting folks outside when a young woman spilled yogurt on his pants. He wiped himself off with a towel and told her, “Getting yogurt on the president, you’ve got a story to tell.”

She replied, “I’m very embarrassed.”
