Sebelius: ‘The website never crashed’

Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius should have checked healthcare.gov before heading to the Hill this morning, as she was caught red-handed when diagnosing the site’s functionality by, well, most of America.

Sebelius testified before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Wednesday morning to rollout of Obamacare’s health insurance marketplace. When asked about the website crashing though, Sebelius claimed it never crashed — while people attempting to log on to healthcare.gov were told the site was down due to “technical difficulties.”

“The website never crashed,” the HHS head said. “It is functional, but at a very slow speed and very low reliability and has continued to function.”

However, when attempting to sign onto the healthcare.gov and register in the health insurance marketplace, users received a message saying the system is down at the moment.

Many news stations broadcasting the hearing flashed to the “system down” notice, disproving Sebelius’ claim.
