President Obama is warning against the change he believes in: Climate change, that is.
Obama spoke of global warming’s looming threat during his commencement address to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, Wednesday.
“This is not just a problem for countries on the coast or for certain regions of the world. Climate change will impact every country on the planet. No nation is immune,” Obama said. “So I am here today to say that climate change constitutes a serious threat to global security, an immediate risk to our national security, and, make no mistake, it will impact how our military defends our country. And so we need to act — and we need to act now.”
Obama has been incredibly and consistently vocal regarding his concerns about climate change, detailing how it will negatively affect the health, national security, and humanitarian needs of the United States.
Despite the president’s claims of a future doomsday scenario, it hasn’t caught on with many voters, especially younger Americans. Just one percent of Millennials say that climate change is the most important issue for a presidential candidate in 2016, according to a Fusion survey conducted earlier this year.
