President Obama is out to make history as the worst president in regards to defending our national borders.
According to government figures obtained by The Associated Press, the Obama administration deported fewer illegal immigrants over the past 12 months than at any other time since 2006 despite the president’s pledge to focus on deporting criminal aliens.
The change in the amount of illegal immigrants with criminal records rose slightly from 56 to 59 percent, respectfully.
Total deportations dropped by 42 percent since 2012, roughly only 136,700 convicted criminal illegal aliens were deported over the last year.
Criminal deportations declined despite orders by The Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson’s directive to focus on finding and deporting criminal aliens who pose a public threat.
Deportations have declined by more than 84,000 between the 2014 and 2015 budget years.
Part of the reason some say that deportations are dropping is because DHS is catching fewer immigrants from Mexico and more from Central America, who need to be flown home which takes more time and money.
Arrests for illegal immigrants crossing the border has also decline this year. By August 2015, nearly 130,000 illegal immigrants from country other than Mexico were arrested, as well as 34,500 unaccompanied children and an estimated 34,400 families illegally crossing the border.
